BUILDING GOD'S KINGDOM: UNITED IN FAITH, ALIVE IN THE SPIRIT

Baptism
Baptismal preparation sessions are held on the first Thursday of February, April, August, and November at 7:30pm. First time parents are required to attend the session, preferably prior to the birth of the child. Parents who have had children baptized are strongly encouraged to attend the reflective and supportive session. Godparents are welcome to attend. Call the Parish Office to register.

Parents who want to baptize children older than six or adults who wish to be baptized, please call the Parish Office for information about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

Confirmation

Candidates for Confirmation participate in classroom instruction, evening meetings, service projects and a retreat day. Parents and sponsors are expected to attend specific evening sessions with their candidate. The sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated with our seventh and eight grade students every other year. Older candidates should contact the Parish Office.

First Eucharist

The celebration of First Eucharist is held the first weekend of May. Our program consists of classroom instruction for First Eucharist candidates, a retreat day for candidates and their parents, and parent meetings. Parents of older children or adults wishing to receive First Eucharist should contact the Parish Office.

Reconciliation

This sacrament of healing where we are reconciled to God and one another, is also called Penance or Confession. It is celebrated every Saturday from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. in the Church or by appointment. The reconciliation room provides the opportunity to receive the sacrament behind a screen or face to face. In addition, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated communally during the Church's seasons of Advent and Lent.

Anointing of the Sick

This sacrament of healing provides Christ's healing presence to those who are experiencing serious illness, those undergoing surgery as well as those who are in danger of death from sickness or old age. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick may be repeated for those whose illness becomes more serious or for those who regain health and then fall sick again. Communal celebration of this sacrament is celebrated annually. In an emergency, for the homebound, or before surgery, please call the Parish Office.

Marriage

Because of the serious nature of the commitment in marriage, couples must contact a priest at least six months before the desired date for marriage. After an initial meeting and the setting of the date, a three part preparation process begins. This process includes meetings with a FOCCUS couple to assist the couple in open communication, attendance at one or both of the following programs: Pre-Cana or Engaged Encounter, and additional meetings with the priest.

Holy Orders

Persons interested in becoming priests, deacons, sisters or brothers should contact a priest for guidance and further information. More information on becoming a priest is found at the Archdiocesan website (http://www.cincinnativocations.org/).
